Volvo V40 Cross Country:

Expected Launch Month: March 2013
Expected Price: Rs 25.00 L - 30.00 L
Volvo is aiming big in India and one of its main launches next year is the V40 Cross Country which has been confirmed for India. So, lets take a detailed look at this BMW X1 rival in detail.
Looks:
The V40 Cross Country wears a rugged look despite its crossover origins and looks great. It is certainly one of its strenghts. In contrast to the normal V40, the Cross Country features a dark, contrasting bumper, honeycomb mesh grille and upright DRL-lights. The sills are contrasting and sculpted. Plus the rear bumper with integrated skid plate. Further off-road inspired details include anodized, black high-gloss frame around the greenhouse, the black rear-view mirror housings and the rails floating over the roof. These little touches give it a lot of presence for sure.
Interiors:

Inside, the Raw Copper exterior launch colour which you see, is echoed in the contrasting stitching - and it can be emphasised even further by choosing the Copper Dawn centre stack inlay. The leather upholstery comes in five different versions, including the Espresso Brown accent colour. The dash is wide and a new high-tech TFT (thin film transistor) instrument digital display is available. Three different instrument displays can be selected, including an "eco" setting to help you drive more economically and a "performance" mode to better suit more spirited driving. There is also a more classical "elegance" mode. TFT instrumentation is available as an option on all models in the Volvo V40 range.
The Volvo V40 comes with Bluetooth music streaming and handsfree mobile connectivity as standard. A navigation system with directions in the main instrument cluster, and a mobile app that can find your car in a large car park, lock or unlock doors and even give you a journey log. These choices are all part of Volvo's innovative infotainment system, giving outstanding connectivity, security and personalisation. The seats are in true Volvo style which is big and comfy and there is room for three in the rear, and a trio of three-point seat belts in the back seat.
Engine, Tech:
In India it will come with the 2.0-litre D3 diesel producing 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque which is available with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also coming will be the five-cylinder 2.5-litre T5 engine which has a power output of 254 hp and 400 Nm of torque, including 40 Nm overboost delivered during acceleration. It comes with automatic transmission and acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 6.1 seconds. The Volvo V40 Cross Country also features Hill Descent Control on the T5 version with All Wheel Drive, which controls the car's speed automatically when driving down steep inclines. The Volvo V40 Cross Country also has a practical Hill Hold function that makes starting in a hill easy.
